Palang Book Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 16, 2026 (previous version: October 13, 2026)
There are no accounts, no servers of our own, no ads and no tracking. Your child’s drawings and voice recordings are stored only on your device. The only things that leave it are anonymous usage statistics that can’t identify anyone (section 5), and feedback a parent chooses to send with “Send Feedback.”
1. Information we collect
No personal information. Palang Book does not collect names, email addresses, location, advertising identifiers or anything else that identifies you or your child, and it never sends drawings, videos or recordings off the device. The app has no sign-in or registration, no advertising SDKs and no third-party analytics services. The only things that leave the device are the anonymous usage statistics described in section 5 and feedback you send yourself (section 4).
2. Why the app uses device permissions
| Permission | Purpose | Where data is kept |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | To record a video to trace over | App storage on the device |
| Photo library (read) | To bring in a video to trace over | App storage on the device |
| Photo library (add) | To save a finished animation as a video | Your Photos app |
| Microphone | To record (dub) your child’s voice onto an animation | App storage on the device |
Each permission is requested only when you use the related feature, and if you don’t allow it, everything else still works. Content accessed through these permissions is never sent off the device.
3. Internet connection
The app connects to the internet only in these cases: when you open a video from a link, to download that video; when you buy or restore the Lifetime Pass, through Apple’s App Store; when you send feedback (section 4); and to send the anonymous usage statistics described in section 5. Video downloads take place only between your device and the server hosting the video, and no information is passed to the developer or any other third party. Downloaded videos stay on the device and are deleted along with the project. Payments are handled entirely by Apple; the developer never receives your payment details.
4. Sending feedback
If you send feedback with “Send Feedback” on the Support screen, what you wrote (feedback type, message, any screenshots you attached, and the name and email you left for a reply), together with the app version, device model, OS version and language setting, is delivered to the developer through Apple iCloud (CloudKit). It is used only to reply to you and to improve the app, and nothing is sent unless you send it. Name and email are optional. If you’d like feedback you sent to be deleted, let us know at the contact address below. We ask that feedback be sent by a parent or guardian.
5. Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports
To help improve the app, Palang Book sends the anonymous statistics below to Apple iCloud (CloudKit). Only the developer can read them, and they are used for nothing other than improving the app and are never passed on to anyone else.
- A random ID created when the app is installed. It isn’t linked to you, your Apple ID, your device or any other app, and it changes if you delete and reinstall the app.
- App version, OS version, and region and language settings
- How many times the app has been launched, the days it was opened, and the date it was installed
- Names of in-app events, such as whether the satisfaction question or review request was shown, and steps in viewing, buying or restoring the Lifetime Pass (no payment details are included)
- Reports when the app crashes or freezes, with the device type and technical diagnostic details
These statistics never include names, contact information, location, or anything you create, such as drawings, videos or recordings. They are sent only while the device is signed in to iCloud; if it isn’t, nothing is sent.
6. Children’s privacy
Palang Book is designed to be used by children. No personal information is collected from anyone, including children; the only thing collected is the anonymous statistics in section 5, which can’t be used to tell who a child is. There are no ads, no tracking and no social features. The only in-app purchase, the Lifetime Pass, sits behind a grown-up check (a math question) that a child can’t pass alone.
7. Deleting your data
Drawings, videos and recordings live only on the device, so deleting a project in the app, or deleting the app, removes them. Anonymous usage statistics aren’t linked to you, so there’s no way to pick out a particular person’s records; if you delete and reinstall the app, a new random ID is created and earlier records are no longer connected to your device. Feedback you sent yourself will be deleted on request, as described in section 4.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we’ll post the update on this page and update the effective date.
