Summary
Remote Controller does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs. The app talks only to a Mac running StickyPresenter on your own local network — nothing is sent to us or to any server on the internet.
Data We Collect
None. The app gathers no personal information, usage analytics, identifiers, or telemetry of any kind.
What Stays on Your iPhone
To reconnect without asking for the code again, the app keeps two values on your iPhone: a random identifier created for this installation, and the identifier of the Mac you paired with. They are not tied to you or your Apple Account, are shared only with your paired Mac, and are removed when you unpair or delete the app.
Local Network
The app's only purpose is to control timers on your Mac, so it needs the
Local Network permission. It uses Apple's MultipeerConnectivity
framework to discover and connect to Macs on the same network that advertise the
StickyPresenter timer service (_sp-timer). The connection is direct between
your iPhone and your Mac and is encrypted. If you decline the permission, the app cannot
find your Mac and nothing else in it will work.
What Is Exchanged
Only what is needed to draw the remote screen and act on your taps:
- Timer information — name, remaining and target time, running / finished / hidden state, Pomodoro phase and cycle, widget size, theme, and the widget's position within your Mac's screen layout.
- Your commands — start, pause, reset, add or subtract 30 seconds, resize, move, hide, align, delete, and create a preset timer.
- Device names — as part of discovery, your iPhone's device name is visible to the Mac and the Mac's computer name is shown in the app. This is how Apple's MultipeerConnectivity identifies peers, and it is visible to devices on the same network that look for this service.
Your sticky notes and teleprompter scripts are never sent to the iPhone.
Who Can Connect
Connecting requires a four-digit pairing code. The code is shown on the
Mac under menu bar timer icon → Remote, and you enter it once in this app the
first time you connect. Once it matches, the Mac remembers that iPhone and later
connections need no code.
A device that does not know the code cannot connect, even on the same local network.
This app only lists the Macs it finds nearby, and exchanges data with the single Mac it is
paired with. On the Mac you can draw a fresh code with New Pairing Code or
clear every remembered device with Forget Paired Remotes; in this app you can
tap the connection indicator to unpair. Only the timer information above is exchanged, and
only timers can be controlled. Quit StickyPresenter on the Mac to stop it from being
discoverable.
Internet, Ads, Tracking
The app makes no internet requests. It contains no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs, and it does not use the App Tracking Transparency framework because it has nothing to track.
Children
The app does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
