What it is
Remote Controller is the iPhone companion to StickyPresenter for Mac. While you present, your Mac stays out of reach — this app puts the timer controls in your hand. It is not a standalone app: it needs StickyPresenter running on a Mac on the same Wi-Fi network.
What you can do
- See the countdown — remaining time, progress, and the Pomodoro phase (Focus / Break) with the cycle number, updated every second.
- Start, pause, reset — and add or subtract 30 seconds mid-talk when a section runs long.
- Start a new timer — 3 / 5 / 10 / 15 minute presets.
- Resize the widget — S / M / L, so it reads from the back of the room.
- Move the widget — drag it on a miniature of your Mac's screen layout. If a slide is covered, move the timer off it without touching your Mac. With an extended display, drag it across to the other screen.
- Hide, align, delete — hide the widget from your audience, pull a lost widget back next to the panel, or remove the timer.
Requirements
- iPhone with iOS 17 or later
- A Mac running StickyPresenter, on the same Wi-Fi network
- Local Network permission allowed on both devices
How it connects
The two apps find each other over your local network (Bonjour / Apple's MultipeerConnectivity) and talk directly to each other. There is no account to create and no server in the middle. Nothing is sent over the internet.
You enter a code only once. Open the app and the Macs it finds nearby
appear in a list. Pick yours and type the four-digit code shown on the Mac under menu bar
timer icon → Remote, and the two are paired. From then on the app connects to
that Mac on its own whenever you open it.
Several Macs on the same Wi-Fi — a meeting room, say — are no problem: the remote talks to the one Mac it is paired with, and a remote that does not know your code cannot reach your Mac.
If it can't find your Mac, the app shows a checklist of the things that usually cause it — see Support.
