Sunny Sunflower (SunlightTracker)
Sunny Sunflower is an app with no servers of its own. Everything the app keeps (sunlight logs, your sunflower’s status, moods and notes, friend history) is stored only on your device and is never sent to anyone, including the developer. We don’t use ads, tracking, or any third‑party analytics SDKs. The only things that leave your device are anonymous usage stats and error reports that can’t identify you (section 4 below), and any feedback you send yourself through Settings → Send Feedback (section 3 below).
| Permission | Purpose | How data is handled |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Estimates ambient brightness to detect sunlight automatically | Uses exposure and ISO metadata only. No photos or videos are ever saved or sent. |
| Location (While Using the App) | Calculates sunrise and sunset times | Used only for on‑device calculations. Never stored or sent. |
| Local Network · Nearby Interaction | Connects you with nearby friends for “Track together” and shows how far apart you are | Your friend’s device name and how many times you’ve tracked together are saved only on your device. This is short‑range communication that never goes over the internet. |
| Notifications | Sunflower status alerts and reminders | Uses local notifications on your device only. |
All permissions are optional. If you decline them, you can still use the core features, such as logging sunlight manually.
All of this is kept in the app’s storage on iOS (UserDefaults), and it’s deleted when you delete the app. You can also erase everything from Settings → Reset data in the app.
When you send feedback through Send Feedback in the app, what you write (feedback type, message, any screenshots you attach, and the name and email you leave for a reply) is delivered to the developer through Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit) public database, along with the app version, device model, iOS version, and language setting. It’s used only to reply to you and improve the app, never for ads or tracking.
If you don’t send feedback, nothing is sent. Sending it requires being signed in to iCloud, and you can also send feedback by email if you prefer. To have feedback you’ve sent deleted, contact us at the address below.
To understand how many people use the app and to fix bugs, Sunny Sunflower sends the anonymous stats below to Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit), where only the developer can read them.
These stats never include your name, contact details, or location, nor anything you’ve logged, such as sunlight logs, moods and notes, or friend history. Stats are sent only when your device is signed in to iCloud.
We don’t share your data with third parties. However, feedback you send and the anonymous usage stats above are stored in Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit), and Apple’s servers may be located outside your country.
This app doesn’t collect any personal information from children. You don’t need to give a name or email when sending feedback.
If this policy changes, we’ll post the update on this page. For significant changes (such as starting to collect new data), we’ll also mention it in the app’s update notes.
