When reporting a bug, it really helps to include your device model, iOS version, and what you were doing when the problem happened.
Q. How does the app measure sunlight?
It estimates ambient brightness from the front camera’s exposure data. When the brightness stays at outdoor levels for long enough, sunlight logging starts automatically. No photos are ever taken or saved.
Q. Doesn’t tracking drain my battery?
Once sunlight is confirmed, the sensor doesn’t stay on. It just switches on briefly now and then to measure again (about 20 seconds every 2 minutes). The rest of the time, the app simply keeps a timer running, which keeps battery use low.
Q. How do I use the friends feature?
When you and a friend are close by (within about 10 m / 30 ft) and both have sunlight tracking on, you’ll connect automatically. The first time you meet someone, you’ll connect only after confirming with “Join in”. After that, it’s automatic. Soak up the sun together and your petals turn colorful, and your time together builds up in the friend map on the Friends tab. Both devices need the app installed, plus Bluetooth and Local Network permission.
Q. My sunflower keeps wilting.
Your sunflower slowly loses energy over time. Get some sun to charge your battery, then tap “Give to sunflower” to pass the energy along. About 15 minutes a day is plenty to keep it healthy.
Q. Can I back up or transfer my data?
Right now, all data is stored only on your device, and there’s no separate backup or transfer feature. It is, however, included in your regular iOS device backups (iCloud or computer).
Q. I want to erase all my logs.
Go to Settings → Data → Reset data in the app, or delete the app, and all your data will be gone.
