Family Court has no sign-up, no login, no ads and no tracking. Everything you enter, such as your family, law book, trials and verdicts, is stored only on your device. The only information that reaches the developer is what you send yourself with Send Feedback and anonymous usage statistics and crash reports that cannot identify you (see section 5).
1. Information we collect
While you use the app, it does not automatically collect personal information such as your name, email, location, contacts, photos or device identifiers. You never need to create an account or sign in.
Two kinds of information can reach the developer: feedback you send yourself from Send Feedback in Settings (section 4), and anonymous usage statistics and crash reports that cannot identify a person (section 5).
2. Where your data is stored
What you enter in the app, such as family member names, law book entries and trial and verdict records,
is saved only in the familycourt.json file in the app's documents folder on your device.
- This data never leaves your device.
- It is not sent to any outside server, including ours, and is not synced through iCloud.
- Deleting the app deletes this data too.
3. Backing up and moving your data
With Save Records in the app you can export your data to a file and import it again later. You manage this backup file yourself and choose where it is saved or shared. We never have access to it.
4. Send Feedback (only when you send it)
If you write and send a message from Send Feedback in Settings, or choose "Something could be better" when the app occasionally asks "Are you enjoying Family Court?", the following information reaches the developer through Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) public database. Your device must be signed in to iCloud to send, and nothing is sent until you press the send button.
- The type of feedback and what you wrote
- Device information: app version, device model, iOS version, language and region settings
- Your name and email for a reply, only if you chose to enter them (optional)
We use this information only to answer your message and improve the app. We do not use it for any other purpose or share it with third parties. If the developer replies, the app fetches only that reply using the number of the feedback you sent. To have feedback you sent deleted, contact us at the address below.
5. Anonymous usage statistics
To learn how many people use the app and to fix errors, the app sends the following anonymous statistics to Apple iCloud (CloudKit). Only the developer can read them.
- A random ID created at install (not linked to your device, Apple ID or other apps, and replaced when you reinstall)
- App version, iOS version, and region and language settings
- How many times and on which days the app was opened, the install date and days since install
- Diagnostic reports when the app freezes or quits unexpectedly (app version, iOS version, device type and technical error details)
These never include things you enter, such as names, contacts, location, or family and trial records. They are sent only while you are signed in to iCloud.
6. Third parties and outside services
The app uses no ad networks, outside analytics services, social sign-in or tracking tools, and does not provide information to third parties. iCloud, used for Send Feedback and anonymous usage statistics, is run by Apple and subject to Apple's privacy policy. When the app asks for a star rating it uses Apple's standard rating prompt, and we do not receive its contents. Apart from Send Feedback and anonymous usage statistics, every feature works without an internet connection.
7. Children's privacy
The app is designed for families to use together and is safe for children. What is entered in the app, such as family member names, stays on the device, and a parent or guardian can edit or delete it in the app at any time. Send Feedback is sent only if the device is signed in to iCloud and the user presses the send button themselves. If a child sends feedback, please look it over together. The anonymous usage statistics in section 5 contain nothing that shows who is using the app.
8. Your rights
You can edit or delete the records stored on your device in the app at any time, and deleting the app removes them all. To view or delete feedback you sent, contact us at the address below.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top.
