Bookmark Shot Privacy Policy

Bookmark Shot (“the app”, formerly 책갈피샷) values your privacy and processes only the minimum information, only on your device and in your own iCloud account. The app does not run its own servers and does not send your books or lines to the developer or to any third party. The only things that reach the developer are anonymous usage statistics that cannot identify you (section 5) and feedback you choose to send (section 6).

1. Information we do not collect

The app does not collect:

• Account or contact details such as your name, email address or phone number
• Location data
• Advertising identifiers or tracking data

2. Information processed on your device

To provide its features, the app creates and stores the following data only inside your device:

• Camera and photos — used to photograph or choose book covers and pages and extract sentences from them. These images are stored only on your device (and in your own iCloud) and are never sent anywhere else.
• Text recognition (OCR) — text is extracted with Apple’s Vision framework, entirely on your device. No network connection is needed, and neither the photos nor the recognized text are sent to a server.
• Saved lines, book details and notes — the lines you save, book titles and authors, page numbers, notes and favorites are kept in an on-device database (SwiftData).

3. iCloud sync

If you are signed in to iCloud on your device, your saved books and lines are synced through Apple’s CloudKit to your own iCloud account so you can see them on all your devices. This data lives only in your iCloud, and the developer cannot access it. iCloud data is handled under the Apple Privacy Policy. If you do not use iCloud, your data is stored locally on that device only.

4. Keeping and deleting data

You are in control of all your data. You can delete individual lines and books in the app, and deleting the app removes the data stored on the device. Data synced to iCloud can be managed and deleted in your device’s iCloud settings.

5. Anonymous usage statistics

To know how many people use the app and to fix errors, the app sends the following anonymous statistics to Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit). Only the developer can see them.

• A random ID created at installation (not linked to you, your Apple Account, your device or other apps, and it changes if you reinstall)
• App version, iOS version, and region and language settings
• How many times and on which days the app was opened, the installation date and the number of days since installation
• Error reports when the app freezes or quits unexpectedly (app version, iOS version, device model and technical details of the error)

They never include your name, contact details, location, photos, or the books, lines and notes you saved. They are sent only while you are signed in to iCloud.

6. Sending feedback

If you send feedback from the app’s Settings (gear) screen, the developer receives through Apple’s CloudKit what you wrote, the type of feedback, the name and reply email you choose to add, any screenshots you attach, and, to help look into the issue, the app version, device model, OS version and language setting. Nothing is sent unless you tap Send, and the feedback is used only to reply to you and to improve the app. If you would like feedback you sent to be deleted, let us know at the email address below.

7. Sharing with third parties

The app does not sell, share or provide your data to third parties. It contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

8. Children’s privacy

The app does not collect personal information, and feedback is sent only when the user chooses to send it. Parents and guardians, please help children avoid writing personal information in feedback.
