Privacy Policy

Buktu Buktu (FootprintDiary) (the "App") takes your privacy seriously. The App is designed to store your movement history and diary only on your own device and in your own iCloud account. The App's developer cannot access your location, photos, or diary.

Key summary — The App has no sign-up and no accounts. Location, photos, and diary entries are stored only on your device and in your own iCloud, and the developer cannot see them. To keep improving the App, however, the developer collects anonymous usage statistics that cannot identify you (such as how many times the App is opened and which screens are used). These never include location or anything you write; see section 4 below for details.

1. Information We Collect

The App processes the information below only inside your device and does not send it to the developer or to third-party servers.

If you turn on iCloud sync, the records above are also stored in your own private iCloud database and carry over to other devices signed in to the same Apple account. This storage belongs to you, and the developer has no access to it.

Separately from the items above, the developer collects the anonymous usage statistics described in section 4 below.

2. Use of Location Data

The App uses iOS's Visit detection and significant location change features to record your movements between places automatically while using as little battery as possible.
For automatic recording, the App may ask for "Always" location permission. You can change or withdraw this permission at any time in the iOS Settings app.
If you don't allow location permission, automatic recording won't work, but the rest of the App's features remain available.

3. Third-Party Services (Apple)

To turn coordinates into human-readable addresses and place names, the App uses Apple's reverse geocoding (CLGeocoder) and map display (MapKit). In this process, the relevant coordinates may be sent to Apple for processing, which is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. The App's developer has no access to this data.

4. Anonymous Usage Statistics

To improve the App, the developer needs to know which features are actually used, so the information below is collected in a form that cannot identify you. It is stored in the developer's own Apple CloudKit space, which is separate from the personal iCloud where your records are kept.

To tell installations apart, the App uses a single randomly generated value created at installation. This value has no connection to your device or Apple account, and if you delete and reinstall the App, it will not link to the previous value.
The App uses no advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, or tracking tools. The statistics above are stored only in Apple CloudKit by code the developer wrote.
These statistics are used only to improve the App, and are never sold or provided to third parties.

5. Sending Feedback

Send Feedback in the App's settings works only when you write and send something yourself. What you send is stored in the developer's Apple CloudKit space and is used only for the developer to read and reply.

What is sent: the feedback type you chose and the text you wrote, plus App version, iOS version, device type, and device language setting
Your name and email are sent only if you enter them yourself, and are used only to reply to you.
Replies from the developer can be read inside the App.

6. Third-Party Disclosure and Advertising

The App does not sell your personal information or provide it to third parties.
The App shows no ads and does not track you.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

All records are stored on your device and in your own iCloud, and you can delete footprints and diary entries yourself inside the App.
If you delete the App, all data stored on the device (location, photos, diary) is deleted with it. Copies stored in iCloud can be removed from the iCloud management screen in the iOS Settings app.
Because the developer holds none of your location, photos, or diary, we cannot view or recover that data for you.
Anonymous usage statistics contain nothing that can be linked to you, so individual deletion requests cannot be handled. However, once you delete the App, nothing further is collected from that point on.

8. Children's Privacy

The App collects no information that can identify you, so it does not collect data targeted at any particular age group. All data stays on your own device.

9. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be revised to reflect changes in law or App features. When it changes, we will update this page to announce it.
