Geusaie

Finish the sauce while the pasta boils.

Cooking is hard not because your hands are slow, but because two pots run on different clocks. The pasta won’t wait for you, while slicing garlic can happen any time. Geusaie (“in the meantime”) tells the two apart and shows just the one thing your hands should do right now, in large type.

What it does

Tasks that can’t wait

Lifting the pasta, garlic just before it burns. When the time comes the screen turns red and tells you to stop what you’re doing.

Tasks that can slide

Slicing, grating, measuring. They move forward only while your hands are free, pause when a pot calls you, and pick up where you left off.

A timer for each pot

The pasta pot and the sauce pan each show what they are doing and how much time is left.

Voice control

With wet hands, say “next”. Voice recognition is processed on the device whenever possible.

Text you can read from a distance

Prop it on the worktop and step back a pace or two. You can enlarge the text in four steps inside the app.

No nagging

There is no countdown for the tasks your hands do. The bar fills up, stops, and waits for you.

Terracotta If you wait, the pasta overcooks or something burns. Do it now.
Pot tiles The square shrinks as time runs out. A pot is a clock you must watch, so the time is never hidden here.
