Privacy Policy
Malmun · Effective date: October 19, 2026
Malmun has no user accounts and does no tracking for advertising or for sharing with other companies. Your study data (phrases, scenarios, responses and words) is stored only on your device and in iCloud containers you turn on yourself.
Anonymous usage statistics and error reports
To fix problems and improve the app, Malmun sends the following to the developer's iCloud (a CloudKit public database):
- a random identifier created for each installation
- app and iOS version, and device language
- launch and usage counts, and a once-a-day record that the app was opened
- diagnostic information when the app freezes or quits unexpectedly
Your name, Apple Account, study content and voice are never sent.
Feedback
Only what you write and send yourself through Settings ▸ Send Feedback — plus contact details, if you include them — reaches the developer.
Purchases
Malmun Pro payments and subscriptions are handled by Apple. The app never receives your payment details; it only checks on your device whether you have purchased.
Where data is stored
- On your device — phrases, scenarios and responses are saved as files inside the app.
- iCloud — only scenarios you turn on for "View with friends" are saved in your Apple Account's iCloud (private and shared databases), under Apple's iCloud terms.
- App Group — phrases are shared with the keyboard through a secure container on the same device and never leave it.
Keyboard
Malmun Keyboard does not ask for Full Access. Text you type with it goes only to the app you're typing in and is never sent to Malmun or to any server.
Microphone and speech recognition
Malmun asks for microphone and speech recognition permission when you practice by voice. Recognition is handled by Apple's standard speech recognizer (SFSpeechRecognizer); Malmun uses the result only to match your answer and does not store or send it.
Commute Mode voice commands listen only during your turn, and what is heard is processed on your device.
AI scenario generation
Only when you use this feature, Malmun sends the topic you entered to the Anthropic API using the API key you added yourself. No other feature, including Commute Mode, sends anything off your device.
