1. Overview
ClipKeyboard ("the app", "we") puts your privacy first. This policy explains exactly what data is handled and how when you use the app.
Core principle: we do not collect what you write. The contents of your memos, clipboard, and templates (and your payment details) are never transmitted to the developer. We do collect anonymous usage statistics that cannot identify you (see section 2). No third-party analytics tools are used.
This policy covers ClipKeyboard on iPhone and iPad as well as the Mac app.
2. What We Collect / What We Don't
📊 What we collect (anonymous)
To improve the app, the following anonymous information is sent to the developer's CloudKit storage:
- Usage metrics: how many shortcuts, templates, and combos you have, how often they were used, minutes saved, whether you own Pro, and whether the keyboard and sync are in use
- Action events: the name of the feature used (e.g. app opened, shortcut added). No content is included
- App environment: app version, OS version, platform, language setting, and days since install
- Install identifier: a random UUID generated by the app. Unrelated to your device, account, or any ad ID; reinstalling produces a brand-new value
- Feedback: what you choose to send us. Your name and email are included only if you type them in because you want a reply
- Crash and hang diagnostics (iPhone and iPad): anonymous reports that iOS (MetricKit) hands to the app after a crash or freeze. They contain only the type of problem, the call stack, app and OS version, and device model, never anything you wrote
This information cannot identify you, and is never used for advertising or tracking (ATT), nor sold or shared with anyone. There is no in-app setting to turn this off.
🚫 What we don't collect
This app does not collect any of the following:
- Personal identifiers (name, email, phone, address, etc.): except what you type into feedback yourself
- Detailed behavior records such as screen flow, session time, or tap coordinates
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA) or device-unique IDs
- Location data
- Contents of stored memos, clipboard, or templates
- Payment information (handled by Apple; developer has no access)
3. Where Data Is Stored
Everything you enter into the app (memos, clipboard history, templates, combos, settings) is stored only in the following locations:
📱 On your device (App Group container)
Stored locally in the iOS App Group container group.com.Ysoup.TokenMemo. Shared between the main app and the keyboard extension, but never transmitted to the developer or any external server.
☁️ iCloud (optional)
Only if you enable iCloud Backup in the app, your data is stored encrypted in your own iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit. The developer has no access to this data.
iCloud Backup can be disabled at any time, and is governed by Apple's iCloud policy: Apple Privacy Policy
4. Permissions
Permissions the app requests and their purposes:
| Permission | Purpose | Data transmission |
|---|---|---|
| Full Access (keyboard) | Load your saved memos into the keyboard | None |
| Face ID / Touch ID | Unlock secure memos (handled by iOS) | None |
| Photo library | Save image memos (only photos you select) | None |
| iCloud | Sync with your iCloud when backup is enabled | Your own iCloud only |
| Camera | Scan a card or document to pick up its text (processed on your device) | None |
5. Third-Party Services
This app does not include any third-party services except the following:
- Apple CloudKit: used solely for iCloud Backup. Active only if you enable it.
- Apple StoreKit: handles in-app purchases (Apple processes the transaction; developer sees only aggregated sales data).
- The developer's CloudKit storage: where anonymous usage statistics and feedback arrive. It runs on Apple's iCloud infrastructure and nobody but the developer can read it.
No third-party analytics tools (Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, etc.), ad networks, or external crash reporting services are used. Everything above is Apple infrastructure: no data is handed to a third company.
6. Payment Processing
In-app purchases (Pro unlock) are processed by Apple's App Store. The developer can only see:
- Whether the purchase succeeded (receipt validation)
- Aggregated sales data (provided by App Store Connect)
Payment details such as card numbers and billing addresses are never passed to the developer.
7. App Store Connect Analytics
We review anonymous statistics (downloads, conversion rate, retention, etc.) provided by Apple automatically. This data is:
- Only provided in anonymized, aggregated form by Apple
- Impossible to tie to individual users
- Only included if the user has turned on "Share with App Developers" in iOS Settings
8. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Everything you write stays on your device (and your own iCloud), so you can exercise these rights directly. The anonymous usage statistics we do collect cannot be traced to an individual:
🇪🇺 GDPR (EU users)
- Right of access: All stored data lives on your device and can be viewed directly inside the app
- Right to erasure: Deleting the app or clearing data inside the app permanently erases everything
- Right to portability: iCloud Backup lets you move data to another device
- About the anonymous statistics: because the install identifier is a random UUID, we cannot locate any individual's records, so we cannot act on individual access, correction, or deletion requests. Deleting the app stops all transmission, and reinstalling issues a new identifier that is not linked to the previous one
- Questions: for anything about what is collected or how it is handled, email us using the address in section 11
🇺🇸 CCPA (California users)
- We do not sell personal information or share it with third parties
- "Do Not Sell" does not apply: no sale exists in the first place
9. Children's Privacy
This app is not specifically designed for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from that age group (COPPA compliant).
10. Changes to this Policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new date on this page. For significant changes, we will notify users via in-app messaging or the App Store listing.
