Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 16, 2026
In providing the iOS app “Insaeng Matjip” (the “App”), its developer, Leeo (the “Developer”), complies with the Personal Information Protection Act of the Republic of Korea and other applicable laws, and follows the principle of processing only the information that is strictly necessary. This policy explains what information the App processes and how.
At a glance
- There is no sign-up or login. We never ask for information that directly identifies you, such as your name, phone number or email address.
- Your restaurant list, visit log, notes, taste ratings and photos are stored only on your device and are never sent to the Developer’s servers.
- When you search for places or move the map, your search terms and map location are sent to place search services (Kakao and Apple).
- The App includes Google Firebase, so device and app information, usage data and error information may be sent to Google automatically.
- Feedback you choose to send, along with anonymous usage statistics and error reports that cannot identify you, is delivered to the Developer’s iCloud storage.
- The App shows no ads, does not request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission, and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
1. Information we process and how it is collected
1.1 Information stored only on your device
The following information you enter into the App is stored only in the App’s storage on your device and is never sent to the Developer or any third party.
- Restaurant details: name, address, phone number, location (coordinates), cuisine type, Visited / Want to Go status, and Top 6 rank
- Visit log: visit date, dishes, star rating, notes and taste ratings
- Photos added to your visit log (resized on the device and kept in the App’s storage)
- Dishes you register, cuisine types you create, and the Taste Profile calculated from your taste ratings
The Settings screen includes an iCloud backup and restore menu, but it does not work in the current version and does not send your log to iCloud. (Your data may be included as device data in a full iPhone backup.)
1.2 Information processed only on your device
| Information | Purpose | How it is processed |
|---|---|---|
| Location (while using the App) | Showing your current location on the map, adding a restaurant at your current location, searching for nearby places | Coordinates are used on the device; for place searches they are sent to the search services as described in 1.3. Your location history is not stored. |
| Location (Always, optional) | Detecting when you have stayed at and then left a saved restaurant, in order to send a visit-log reminder | The distance between your current location and your saved restaurants is compared only on the device. Your movements are never stored or sent anywhere. |
| Camera, photo library | Adding photos to your visit log | Only photos you choose or take are copied into the App’s storage. They are never sent anywhere. |
| Notifications | After-visit reminders to log your visit | These are local notifications scheduled on the device. They do not go through a push server. |
1.3 Place search (Kakao, Apple)
When you search for a restaurant on the map or move the map to load nearby places, the App sends the following information to place search services.
- Kakao Local API (Kakao Corp.): search terms, the coordinates of the map center or your current location, and the search radius
- Apple Maps search (MapKit, Apple Inc.): search terms and the map area
No information that identifies you is sent with it. However, due to the nature of internet communication, your IP address may reach each company’s servers, where it is handled under that company’s privacy policy. When you open a restaurant in Apple Maps, KakaoMap or NAVER Map, the restaurant’s name and coordinates are passed to that app.
1.4 Information that may be collected automatically (Google Firebase)
The App includes the Google Firebase SDK (Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring and others), which is initialized when the App launches. In the process, Firebase may automatically collect the following information and send it to Google.
- Identifiers generated at random for each app installation (Firebase installation ID, app instance ID)
- Usage data: app usage events such as first launch, session start and screen views
- App version, device model, OS version, device language, and country/region estimated from your IP address
- Error information when the App crashes, and performance information such as app start time and network response times
Your restaurant list, visit log, photos and location coordinates are never sent to Firebase. The Developer does not combine this information with other information to identify individuals, and does not use it for advertising or marketing.
1.5 Feedback you send
When you send feedback from the Support menu in Settings or from the “Enjoying the app?” prompt, the following information is stored in the Developer’s iCloud public database (Apple CloudKit).
- What you wrote and the type of feedback
- The name and email address you entered to receive a reply (only if you entered them)
- App version, device model and OS version, and device language and region settings
If you send an email instead, it goes directly to the Developer through your mail app.
1.6 Anonymous usage statistics and error reports (Apple CloudKit)
To understand how many devices use the App and to fix errors, the App sends the following information to the Developer’s iCloud public database (Apple CloudKit). Only the Developer can read it, and it is sent only when you are signed in to iCloud.
- A random ID created when the App is installed (not linked to you, your Apple ID, your device or any other app; it changes if you reinstall)
- App version, OS version, and device language and region settings
- Number of app launches, the days the App was opened, the installation date and the number of days since installation
- Names of in-app events such as a satisfaction prompt being shown or a review request (what you typed is not included)
- Error reports when the App freezes or crashes (device type and technical error details)
Your restaurant list, visit log, photos, location coordinates, name and contact details are never sent. So that review requests don’t appear too often, the date you were last asked is stored only on your device. Tapping “Yes, I love it” opens Apple’s App Store rating prompt.
2. Purposes of processing
- Providing the App’s features, such as saving restaurants and visit logs, showing the map, place search and after-visit reminders
- Fixing errors and improving the App’s stability and performance
- Responding to your inquiries and feedback
Information is not used for advertising, marketing or profiling, or for any purpose other than those above.
3. Retention period
- Information stored on your device: kept until you delete it in the App or delete the App. You can erase all restaurants and visit logs at once with “Delete All Data” in Settings; to remove your photos completely as well, please delete the App.
- Information collected by Firebase: deleted automatically once Google’s configured retention period expires. Aggregated statistics that cannot identify individuals may remain afterward.
- Feedback: kept for as long as needed to handle inquiries and improve the App, and deleted without delay if you ask.
4. Disclosure to third parties
The Developer does not provide your personal information to third parties, except where specifically required by law.
5. Outsourced processing and international transfers
The following services are used to provide the App’s features and analyze errors, and some information may be transferred outside your country in the process.
| Recipient | Information | Purpose | Country |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google LLC (Firebase) | Items in 1.4 | App usage statistics, error and performance analysis | United States and other countries where Google data centers are located |
| Apple Inc. (CloudKit) | Items in 1.5 (if you send feedback) and 1.6 | Storing feedback, anonymous usage statistics and error analysis | United States and other countries where Apple data centers are located |
| Apple Inc. (MapKit) | Items in 1.3 (search terms, map area) | Place search | United States and other countries where Apple data centers are located |
| Kakao Corp. | Items in 1.3 (search terms, coordinates) | Place search | Republic of Korea |
Data is transferred over an encrypted network connection (HTTPS) while you use the App. Related policies: Google Privacy Policy, Privacy and Security in Firebase, Apple Privacy Policy, Kakao Privacy Policy. There is no separate setting to turn off only the Firebase transfers. If you do not want them, you can stop using the App and delete it.
6. Device permissions
The App requests the following permissions, all of which are optional. Even without them, you can pick a spot on the map to add and log restaurants. You can change these permissions at any time in your iPhone’s Settings.
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
| Location (While Using the App) | Showing your current location on the map, adding a restaurant at your current location, searching for nearby places |
| Location (Always) | Reminders to log your visit after you’ve been to a saved restaurant (checks your location even when the App is not in use) |
| Notifications | After-visit reminders to log your visit |
| Camera | Taking photos for your visit log |
| Photo library | Choosing photos for your visit log |
7. Deletion procedure and method
Information stored on your device is deleted by iOS when you delete it in the App or delete the App. Information collected by Firebase is deleted automatically by Google once the period in Section 3 expires. Feedback is deleted from the iCloud storage by the Developer once its purpose has been fulfilled or when a deletion request is received.
8. Your rights and how to exercise them
- You can withdraw location, notification, camera and photo permissions at any time in your iPhone’s Settings.
- You can edit or delete restaurants and visit logs within the App, and deleting the App erases all information stored on your device.
- To request access to, correction, deletion or suspension of processing of your personal information, please email us at the address below and we will act without delay. Note, however, that because the Developer holds no information that can identify you, it may be difficult to locate a specific user’s Firebase data.
- You may also exercise your rights through a legal representative or an authorized agent.
9. Automatic collection tools and how to refuse them
The App does not use web cookies. Firebase distinguishes usage data by the installation identifier described in 1.4. Deleting the App removes the identifier, and a new one is created if you reinstall.
10. Security measures
- Only the minimum necessary information is processed, and the logs you create stay on your device.
- All communication with external services uses encrypted HTTPS.
- User logs are not collected on any server operated by the Developer.
11. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed at children under 14, and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
